All municipal corporations in the country should follow the example of Nagpur Municipal Corporation

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : Municipal Corporation has passed the resolution to prohibit the manufacture and sale of Shri Ganesh idols made of plaster of paris under a sub-clause of a rule to protect water resources. This is the first Corporation in the State to take such an initiative. This sub-clause was drafted by the Commissioner Shyam Vardhane. (According to scriptures, it is necessary to use pipeclay (Shadumati) for preparing Shri Ganesh idol – Editor, Daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat) In this regard, public awareness will be created from now itself. Last year, the manufacturers of idols had opposed such move; however, the Municipal Corporation has declared this decision in order to take necessary action in this regard.
