Cancel the ‘Border Gavaskar Trophy’ distorting India’s map ! – HJS

Vaishakh Shuklapaksha 14, Kaliyug Varsha 5115

Mumbai : In March 2013, Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the series against Australia and won ‘Border – Gavaskar Trophy’. In India’s map inscribed on the Trophy, some part of Jammu and Kashmir has been omitted leading to its distortion and hurting sentiments of billions of Indians. This ‘Trophy’ should, therefore, be immediately cancelled by Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI). The above demand has been made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) by writing a letter to A. Srinivasan, the President of BCCI. This letter has also been forwarded to the Central Home Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde and Director of Survey of India.

It has been stated in the letter that…

1. Islands of Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep have not been shown in this map.

2. There are senior politicians like Sharad Pawar, Rajeev Shukla, Arun Jaitley, Laluprasad Yadav, Farukh Abdulla etc. who are the members of BCCI. Do they agree with such distortion? Patriots have a feeling that the distorted map must have been drawn by Australia or Pakistan as per their convenience.

3. This map is not certified map of India. By hurting sentiments of patriotic citizens of this country, BCCI has committed treason.

4. Stringent action should therefore, be taken against the concerned and the present Trophy should be cancelled. HJS has demanded that a modified Trophy should be made with proper map of India for presentation.

No response has been received despite calling up BCCI’s office or sending e-mail. The Board is presently, drowned in the mud of corruption and scams; therefore, such national problem is deliberately ignored. One patriot has lodged a complaint with Marine Lines police station but no action has been taken by the police so far.

Dear Sir,

Subject : Request to stop the Distortion of Indian map on the Border- Gavaskar trophy by changing trophy with correct Indian map

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is an NGO engaged in Nation building, educating people on Dharma (Righteousness) and Dharmacharan (Abiding by Righteousness),awakening and uniting Indians peacefully and through lawful means. For details, please visit our website www.HinduJagruti.org

The Border-Gavaskar trophy was proudly handed over to Mahendra Singh Dhoni in March 2013 by the two legends of Australian and Indian cricket, Alan Border and Sunil Gavaskar, after India’s stunning win over Australia. But regret to state that the trophy which Dhoni received and held up find a map of India with half of Jammu & Kashmir missing. Also Andman, Nicobar, Laxdveep Iselands are missing. The borders of India shown are neither correct nor accurate.

Is this a trophy created by Indians or Australians or Pakistanis? Did BCCI (which presumably represents the nation) okay the use of such a map? Did BCCI, many of whose high functionaries (from Sharad Pawar to Rajiv Shukla to Arun Jaitley to Laloo Prasad Yadav to Farooq Abdullah) are top politicians, agree to its use? These are the questions created in the minds of proud Indians.

We have received complaints in this matter. There is also wide spread news in the local news papers about this serious matter ( Enclosed copy of Tehelka news appeared on 26.03.2013). The Map of India displayed on the trophy does not showproper demarcation of Jammu and Kashmir, but deletion of part of Jammu and Kashmir. This is not in accordance with the Official Map of India by the Government of India. You have by this act distorted the Indian map and presented an incorrect map.

In the process it leads to hurting the National sentiments and committing a National offence. It is indeed surprising for such an blunder to occur on the part of prestigiuous body like BCCI.

We request you to a immediately change the trophy with correct map and tender an apology for hurting National sentiments.

We request you to acknowledge the letter and inform us the action taken in the matter at the earliest.

Yours Truely,

Shivaji Vatkar
