J&K : Terrorists strike on Amarnath Yatra , two Amarnath pilgrims killed

New Delhi : At least two Amarnath pilgrims were killed and eight others injured when a bomb blast occured in Bijbehara of Anantnag district, intial reports said.According to police, explosion occured in Bijbehara township of south Kashmir.

Initial reports said that there was a grenade attack on tourist bus in Bijbehara that killed two women. However, the eyewitnesses said that the blast occured out of cylinder explosion.



On Friday, a fresh batch of 575 pilgrims left for 3,888-metre high Amarnath cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas. The pilgrims comprising 388 men, 87 women, 10 children and 90 sadhus left in a cavalcade of 20 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0500 hours for Amarnath, police said.

Notably, sixteen Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 16 others injured when a truck carrying them plunged into a deep gorge in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on late Friday night.
