Solapur (Maharashtra) : Dr. Narendra Dabholkar of Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) was to visit Solapur to attend a program. Jain community, however, submitted memorandum to the deputy District Collector demanding cancellation of Dr. Dabholkar’s program considering his breach of faith in every program attended by him. Revered Saints took initiative and more than 200 people from Jain community were present on the occasion. Dr. Dabholkar was to come on Saturday to attend a program named ‘Saane Guruji Kathaamaalaa’ at 5.00 p.m. Under the leadership of Rev. ‘Paadmuni’ Bhagavant Sree Mokshrakshit Vijayaji M. S. , people from Jain community took to the roads and they submitted memorandum to the resident Deputy District Collector, Mr. Bharat Waghmare on Friday. Similar memorandum was also submitted to Police Commissioner, Mr. Raskar. While addressing the participating Hindus, Rev. ‘Paadmuni’ Bhagavant Sree Moksharakshit Vijay ji M. S. said, “ANS should not destroy faith under the name of anti-superstitions Act. They have always indulged in mud-slinging at objects of worship of Hindus. We appeal that it should be stopped.” The Police Commissioner promised that notice under caluse 149 would be issued to Dr. Dabholkar and his program would be video-recorded.

Dr. Dabholkar becomes hysterical on receipt of notice by Police ! Says, ‘Police have no awareness towards science !’

The program was total fiasco. There were 30 audience members and 50 Policemen! Looking at the empty chairs, Dr. Dabholkar requested the Police staff to come and occupy the seats.

On receiving the memorandum from Jain Muni, Police had issued a notice to Dr. Dabholkar that he should not make statements on Hindu Deities and objects of worship that could lead to law and order problem.

Such notice enraged Dr. Dabholkar and he criticized the police in his speech saying that Solapur Police lacked awareness towards science. He also said that he would show the notice to Home Minister, Mr. R. R. Patil.

Dr. Dabholkar said that finding facts based on science and truth was a part of training of Police. Such training is imparted by ANS to Police from this State; but with the issue of such notice by Solapur Police, one wonders about existence of Government or Constitution. (Looking at the manner in which Dabholkar speaks, one may feel that only he has taken contract of abiding by science. Scientists like Dr. Vijay Bhatkar are inventing computer, have faith in God; but Dr. Dabholkar is spreading atheism.  This indicates that Dr. Dabholkar thinks that his faith in science  was stronger than that of Dr. Bhatkar. – Editor)

Notice had to be issued keeping in mind law and order ! – Police Commissioner

Jain brethren submitted a memorandum complaining about Dr. Dabholkar; therefore, notice had to be issued to Dabholkar for maintaining law and order in the city. He should not feel bad about the same.  Police took precaution to maintain peace in the city, said Mr. Pradeep Raskar, Police Commissioner of Solapur.
