Protest by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti against the denigration of deities on Suvarna TV channels

Bangalore : Recently, the television program ‘Neena Naana’ on Suvarna channel showed disrespect to the Hindu deities, Shri Rama and Shri Krishna. In this weekly serial Shri Rama, Shri Krishna, saints have been disrespected in a great deal.

Beginning of Protest by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti informed devout Hindus to protest against the highly objectionable content of this serial through phone calls and SMS. Thus, devout Hindus from various parts of the entire state registered their protest by making phone calls to the Suvarna TV channel.
Details of the Protest
Adopting a positive approach, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti initially took the guidance of various lawyers in the state. The next stage of the protest consisted of a protest meet organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on March 8, 2012 at Rajajinagar, Bangalore, in which, devout Hindus and various Hindu organisations participated. In order to create awareness amongst the Hindus assembled for this meet, the disrespect being shown to Hindu deities by this TV channel was shown through the medium of a LCD projector. On viewing the immense disrespect to deities, the assembled Hindus made a firm decision to undertake a strong protest. As a first step of the protest, it was decided to personally meet the TV channels and demand an apology from them. In-case the apology was not given, legal action would be taken. Accordingly, it was decided that all leaders of Hindu organisations would assemble in front of the TV channels office on March 10, 2012 at 11:00AM.
This information was passed on to heads of all pro-Hindu, pro-Kannada, spiritual and social organisations through phone calls and emails.
Hindu organisations unitedly protest against the disrespect to deities
On the morning of March 10, 2012, people of various organisations such as Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Shri Rama Sena, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Makkala Kuta, Janajagruti Vedike and college students, numbering around -80- people assembled in front of Suvarna TV channel and then entered the office.

When more than -80-proud Hindus entered the Suvarna channel office, the entire atmosphere was charged. All the people were scared on seeing the spirit of the devout Hindus. Initially, a person with lower level authority tried to respond to the queries of the protestors. However, he soon got tired and he himself took the protestors to meet the channel’s higher level authorities.

The Hindus informed the channel authorities how disrespect is caused to deities and saints, through serials like ‘Nana Neena’ telecast on Suvarna channel and various other programs. Every Hindu present expressed how it was a major attack on Hindu dharma and how it hurt their religious sentiments. Without a single objection to what was expressed by the Hindus, the channel authority apologised. Finally, the channel authority rendered a written apology to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. According to the Samiti’s demand, they wrote that the apology would be recorded in the actress Lakshmi’s voice and telecast on the channel. Also, the apology from the channel would be telecast publicly.
