Representation submitted by HJS to Govt., Opposition leaders and MPs demanding ‘Sriram-setu’ to be declared as National monument

Mumbai : The Central Government has hatched a conspiracy to demolish ‘Sriram-setu’ through the project called ‘’Setusamudram’. Such ploy should be foiled and ‘Sriram-setu’ should be declared as a National monument was the representation submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to Mr. Sanjay Raut, the MP of Shiv Sena and executive editor of ‘Dainik Saamna’, Mr. Pruthviraj Chavan, the State Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Pawar, the deputy CM, Home Minister R R Patil, Mr Sanjay Devtale, Minister for cultural affairs and Mr. Ratnakar Gaikwad, the chief secretary of the State besides Mr. Eknath Khadase, Opposition leader, Legislative Assembly. Mr. Raut assured the delegation of HJS that he would rigorously follow up the matter in the ‘Upper House’ regarding declaration of ‘Sriram-setu’ as national monument.

Demand with opposition leaders to pass a resolution

HJS delegation met Mr. Vinod Tawade and Mr. Eknath Khadase , the Opposition leaders of BJP, Mr. Sudhir Mungantiwar, the Maharashtra State President of BJP, its MLAs viz. Bhagavanrao Salunkhe, Ravindra Chavan, Pramod Jathar and Shiv Sena MLA, Mr. Subhash Desai. Demand to declare ‘Ram-setu’ as national monument was made with all the MLAs in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly by HJS through a representation. All MLAs assured HJS to present resolution for passing in the Legislative Assembly.

Dr. Subramanyam Swami, the President of Janata Party has made the above demand by filing a petition in the Supreme Court on which hearing will be held on 19th April. The Central Government has started demolition of ‘Sriram-setu’ which has historical, mythological, religious and spiritual significance through a project called ‘Setu-samudram Project’; therefore, people are enraged and the project is meted out with opposition all over the country. People of Maharashtra also have strong and sensitive feelings towards the issue; therefore, the Central Government should immediately stop the ‘Setu-samudram’ project and declare ‘Sriram-setu’ as national monument considering the religious sentiments and faith of Hindus and file an affidavit in the Supreme Court for ‘Sriram-setu’ to be considered as national monument and for its preservation.
