Sangli : Pictures of Deities not to be put up in staircases of govt. offices

Sangli (Maharashtra) : A representation was submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the resident deputy District Collector, Mr. Uttamrao Patil for prevention of insult of National Flag occurring on 26th January, the Republic Day. Mr. Uttam Patil said that pictures of Deities were removed from the staircase of the District Collector’s office and instructions were issued in the district meeting that Deities pictures should not be put up in any Government office.

Action will be taken even against Deities’ pictures on crackers

Mr. Patil said that the District Collector’s office was in correspondence with Shivakashi, the chief manufacturers of crackers regarding pictures of Deities on crackers. Explanation has been sought from Shivakashi about the action proposed to be taken by them. (Congratulations to Mr. Patil for taking initiative in preventing denigration of Deities taking place through different media. Similar action is expected from all Government officials. – Editor SP) He also informed about condition to be stipulated for the distributors of crackers when they approach for permission that crackers with pictures of Deities’ would not be allowed to be kept on sale.

Mr. Shyam Vaidya, Prakash Khot and Ravindra Khadilkar of ‘Bharat Swabhiman Trust’, Mr. Avinash Sawant and Sachin Pawar of ‘Sree Shiva-pratishthan’, Mr. Pravin Kavathekar of ‘Saptahik Lokjagar’, Mr. Ramesh Kotibhaskar of RSS, Mr. Ajit Patil of Sanatan Sanstha and Mr. Dattatreya Retharekar of HJS were present on the occasion.
