Alert patrolling of Mavlas (Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s soldiers were called Mavlas) at Rajgad to stop the ‘attack’ of Christian ‘New Year’ !
Fort Rajgad, (Taluka Velha, Dist. Pune) : In order to establish ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ protection of the forts was inevitable. That is why Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s mavlas protected the forts from the attacks of cruel Muslims.
Hundreds of years later the valour of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s modern mavlas could be witnessed at Rajgad in the form of the Campaign, ‘Rajgad Rakshan’. The aim of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj was to protect the forts; whereas the modern mavlas associated with the campaign, ‘Rajgad Rakshan’, had the aim of protecting the sanctity of the fort Rajgad. Although the aim of protecting the fort was different the enthusiasm and the spirit were the same.
On the occasion of 31st December that is the Christian ‘New Year’, various malpractices like organising parties, consuming alcohol, dancing with vulgar gestures to the tune of loud and disturbing music, eve teasing etc take place rampantly at Holy places, Forts, etc. The purity of the forts gets destroyed due to such malpractices. In order to retain their sanctity, ‘Abhinav Nirman Pratishthan’ and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had jointly organised a campaign of ‘Rajgad Rakshan’ at the foot of Rajgad Fort.
This campaign is going to be/was organised on 1st January. (Praiseworthy action of ‘Abhinav Nirman Pratishthan’ and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) ! If every Nationalist/proud Bharatiya and Dharmabhimani organisation, were to undertake such action then it would not take much time to maintain sanctity of Forts by stopping blind imitation of westerners ! – Editor SP)
On the morning of January 1st 2012 at 9 a.m., after performing puja and arti of Mahadev, the campign of ‘Rajgad Rakshan’ was inaugurated. Thereafter the volunteers of both the organisations informed the visitors about the historical importance of the forts and explained to them the necessity of retaining their sanctity. They appealed at the same time to throw away any intoxicants like alcohol, gutkha etc from their possession. The volunteers also were checking their vehicles. Visitors gave their 100% cooperation. Many of them threw away alcohol bottles and gutkha packets on their own. Those who were drunk were not allowed to visit the fort and were sent away. Some volunteers were at the fort convincing the visitors. HJS had put up an exhibition of revolutionaries at the foot of the fort which got tremendous response from the people. More than a 100 volunteers had participated in this campaign.
