Sirajganj (Bangladesh): Miscreants have damaged five idols of Hindu gods and goddesses made for Durga Puja at Enayetpur upazila. Police arrested one Sohrab Ali, 55, from Gopinathpur village on Friday morning on suspicion of his involvement in the vandalism. Narrating the incident, Gopinathpur Temple Committee general secretary Sudharam Roy told bdnews24.com that everyone returned home after decoration of the idols was completed around 1am.
"But in the morning, we saw the idols of Durga, Kartik, Saraswati, Laxmi and Sri Harish Chandra had been beheaded," he said. Enayetpur police sub-inspector Masud Rana said they were after those involved in the incident. Additional superintendent of Sirajganj police Pankaj Bhattacharya visited the temple and assured that the miscreants would be arrested.
