Gadchiroli, (Maharashtra):
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) organized guidance lecture at Military School on how to maintain sanctity of Navaratri festival by stopping malpractices taking place during celebration. Thereafter, quiz contest was conducted for students on ‘Navaratri Festival’. The response received to the programs from students as well as teachers was very encouraging. Mr. Bhandarkar, the Principal of the school commented that such program inculcating moral values should be held regularly.

Mrs. Manisha Vazade of HJS said, “The number of Navaratri festival committees is increasing; but no efforts are made to celebrate the festival keeping its spiritual objective in mind. Programs like indecent ‘dandiya’ dance, gambling in the marquee where the statue of Devi is installed, forcing citizens to pay donation etc. are on the rise and they are destroying the sanctity of the festival. She appealed to the young generation that they should become aware and unite to stop such malpractices.

Highlights

175 students studying in 8th to 12th standards took part in the quiz.
