Jyeshtha Krushna Ashtami, Kaliyug Varsha 5113

Kittur (Karnataka) : A play, “Kaliyugada pujari” being exhibited in the Kittur Chennamma Rangamandir of Bijapur was lawfully forced to stop on 19th June 2011 by the members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

This drama included some scenes and dialogues that criticized and humiliated our Revered Gods Shiva, Parvati and Ganga. At first, when the HJS members requested the owner of the drama company humbly he did not heed. Then the HJS members had to talk sternly with him to stop the play. Here is the conversation that took place between the owner of the company and the HJS members.

HJS members: You have to remove the humiliating scenes and dialogues in the play, such dialogues cause pain to our religious believes and feelings.

Owner of the drama company:
What should we do for your pain? It is from our creative freedom that we have created this conversation and scene.

HJS members: We do not know anything; if you continue to humiliate Shiva like this the consequences will be different.

Owner: Do whatever you want at least we will gain publicity, fame and money from your opposition.

HJS members:  Look, it is not proper to speak like this.

Owner: What have you done to oppose when things like this happen in many movies and dramas? Now you have come to oppose us.

HJS members: We have surely opposed many and will continue to do so in the future also. For example, we sternly opposed the song “Sullu Sullu” from the movie Preeti yeke bhoomi melide by Prem. We will surely oppose everything that is harming the Dharma.

Owners: Ok we will change the scene.

HJS members: Do not repeat it in the next shows.

Owners: If you have doubts watch the next show.

Just 15 minutes after this 100s of devout Hindus joined there to demonstrate against the humiliation of our Gods and Goddesses in the drama. The owner of the drama company was strictly told to remove the particular scenes and dialogues from the play. Then he agreed to do so. During this period a very serious atmosphere prevailed, but due to the strong and united opposition from the dharmabhimanis from Bijapur the exhibition of the drama itself was stopped. The demonstration thus ended in the victory of the dharmabhimanis and the victory was offered at the feet of Lord Shiva.
