Sri Laxminarayan Mandir located at Thivim, Mapusa was looted on 10th June night. Material worth 8 lacs of rupees was stolen at his time. The above said memorandum has also urged police stop the series of thefts that have been repeatedly taking place in Goa. At this time Mr. Chandrakant (Bhai) Pandit, president of GMDSM; Mr. Jayesh Thali, coordinator of GMDSM; Mr. Ramesh Naik, Shivsena’s Goa state acting president;  Mr. Tushar Topale, president of Sree Chamundeshwari Mandir; Mr. Mahadev Shirodkar, president of Sree Laxminarayan Mandir, vice-president Mr. Hanumant Ambekar, Secretary Mr. Lavu Korgaokar, Mr. Suresh Valvoikar, and Mr. Arun Shinde were present while forwarding the Memorandum.

Mahasangh has stated in the Memorandum that, ‘Despite the police guarding the area of the temple the theft has taken place. It shows that the robbers are not even scared of the police. GMDSM is strongly protesting against the Government for being unable to control the theft in the temple and the series of thefts in temples. Around more than 50 Idols have been destroyed in the last 5 years. Thereafter the series of thefts continued. Till now around more than 230 thefts have taken place and are still continuing. The office bearers of the Mahasangh bought to the notice of the Police Inspector that, the police going for inquiry to the venue are not doing proper inquiry, the local residents found the ‘Seat’ (Makhar) of the Idol lying at the side of the temple. This shows that the police do not go around the temple despite on duty.
