Nashik (Maharashtra): A private limited company called ‘Nandini Agarbatti’ has printed pictures of ‘Om’ and ‘Swastik’ on the packaging of their ‘udbattis’. These packets are thrown after use and people unknowingly trample them leading to denigration of the revered symbols; therefore, the pictures of symbols venerated by Hindus should be removed was the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) with the said company.
This company sells a type of ‘udbatti’ named ‘Premras’. The empty packets have been found on the roads, gutters and garbage; therefore, people trample them unknowingly resulting in denigration of the symbols like ‘Om’ and ‘Swastik’ revered by Hindus. HJS members called on the owner of the said company and made him realize the mistake which he also agreed; but when asked that when the packaging would be changed, he said, “It is not possible to change them immediately and can take even one year.” The HJS members told them that it was a matter of religious sentiments and faith of millions of Hindus; the company should take immediate action; else agitation would be started against the company for which the company would be responsible.
