HJS tastes success in its ‘Khadakvasla Jalashay Rakshan’ movement

Pune (Maharashtra) : The waters of Khadakvasla reservoir get polluted due to bathing activities of people after playing with colours on ‘Dhuli-Vandan’ and ‘Rang Panchami’. For the last 10 years a ‘Khadakvasla Jalashay Rakshan’ movement is being run by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha jointly to stop this water pollution. This movement tasted complete success on ‘Dhuli Vandan’ as well as ‘Rang Panchami’ due to the great enthusiasm of the activists. As a result those who were drenched in colour could not swim or bathe in these waters. The movement started the worship of Sri Krishna’s photo at Khadakvasla by former vice-Sarpanch Mrs. Shanta Matay and Mrs. Mandakini Matay.  Mrs. Shanta Matay appealed to the people saying, ‘It is necessary to protect water. The Samiti’s work is very valuable. More and more people should join this movement.’ To stop the damage to national property due to water pollution 50 activists had formed a human chain around the reservoir for the entire day. On ‘Dhuli Vandan’ and ‘Rang Panchami’, some people come here after consuming liquor. Teenagers are also seen engaged in vulgar activities here.

This is the reason the Samiti is running this movement for the last 10 years keeping in mind the social binding and for protecting the environment.

Highlights

• Mr. Abnave had come to Khadakvasla to play with colours. But getting inspiration from the activity of the Samiti and its activists, he brought water bottles for the activists of the Samiti free of cost.
