Complaint lodged with Nipani Police Station

Hooliganism at Akol (Dist. Belgaum) for not giving money for ‘Dhulvad’

Kolhapur (Maharashtra): Few activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) were travelling in a ‘SUMO’ vehicle from Gadhinglaj to Ichalkaranji for attending a program. Their vehicle was stopped at Akol (Taluka Chikkodi, Dist. Belgaum) by 20-25 unknown youth and they demanded money for celebrating ‘Dhulvad’. They beat up 4 members of HJS when they refused to give money. (Owing to lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’, such highway robberies take place during Hindu festivals. For maintaining the sanctity of their festivals, Hindus should force the Government to take stringent action against the offenders, who demand ransom ! – Editor SP) Mr. Shivanand Dhanavade, a member of HJS (age – 28 yrs) has been seriously injured in this incident and other 3 members have sustained minor injuries. The incident took place at 10.00 a.m. on 20th March and a complaint has been lodged with Nipani Police Station.

Few groups of youth were standing on Sidnal Cross bypass road on Sunday to play ‘Dhulvad’. They were stopping the vehicles and collecting money from the drivers and pelting stones and ash-balls at the vehicles if money was not given to them. As the vehicle in which HJS members were travelling reached Akol, a group of youth stopped it and asked for money from driver Mr. Dhanavade. He, however, refused to give money. Mr. Waman Bilavar, another HJS member tried to show the youth pamphlets of HJS on its activities related to Dharma; but the youth insisted that they would not let the vehicle pass unless money was given to them.

Mr. Bilavar warned the youth that a complaint would be lodged against them with the police in case of compulsion. The youth replied that police would not take any action against them. HJS members tried to ignore them and took the vehicle ahead when the youth started pelting stones and ash-balls towards the vehicle. A stone hit Mr. Dhanavade on head injuring him seriously. Glasses of the vehicle also broke resulting in a loss of about Rs.10,000/-.

Lady-member also brutally beaten up

Mrs. Sudha Bilavar tried to reprimand the youth by getting down from the vehicle when she was beaten up severely by the youth by knocking her on the ground. Mrs. Sarita Dhulaj, Mr. Waman Bilavar and Mr. Dhanavade who went to their rescue, were also beaten up. The youth hit Mr. Dhanavade even with a milk kettle. During all this time, people on the road were just looking at the scene. (Hindus’ mentality of not bothering to help their brethren when they are in danger, has led to the present condition of Dharma and there are constant attacks on Hindu Dharma. Hindus should leave such mentality and come together; else they can also face similar situation ! – Editor SP)

Police fail to nab the youth

Mr. Dhanavade was given first –aid by Dr. Harshal Jadhav. Yesterday, he was treated at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital at Nipani. Policemen Ramchandra Ballari, Shallya Gol, Mr. B. M. Belavi, S. B. Mujavar tried to trace the attackers but could not find them.  The policemen enquired after HJS members. (It is known that every year, similar malpractices take place. If the police had not committed the mistake of ignoring such incidents; this incident would have been prevented ! – Editor SP) Mr. Ashok Banne of Chikkodi Taluka Panchayat Samiti, Mr. Chandrakant Mali, the Sarpanch of Akol Gram Panchayat, Mr. Appasaheb Solankure and Sachin Jadhav expressed displeasure over this incident.

Instruction to HJS members!

Presently, the period is not favourable ; therefore, seekers should not try to advise or enlighten the people with criminal mentality as they are in no mood to listen; instead they should judge the situation, leave from the place of incident and use their precious time for ‘Dharma-karya’. They should remember that their every second is important from the view-point of ‘sadhana’.
