Kudchade (Goa): A show of Marathi play titled ‘Ghaleen Lotangan’ was organized on the occasion of Shiv-jayanti. There is disgraceful mockery of Hindu Deities and Saints in this play. The devout Hindus, however, registered their protest against this play and the Government had to cancel the show at Kudchade.

The devout Hindus took up the matter with Congress MLA, Mr. Shyam Satardekar and the Chief Minister Digambar Kamat. MLA Satardekar agreed that religious sentiments of Hindus should not be hurt through the plays. He talked to the Chief Minister Kamat and the Director of Information and Broadcasting Department, Mr. Menino Peres demanding to cancel the show of the play. Chief Minister Kamat approved cancellation of the show after listening to Mr. Satardekar. Mr. Satardekar expressed regret over the organizers’ mistake in keeping the show of such controversial play.

Earlier, a demand was made with the Chief Minister Kamat for canceling the show of the same play at Mudgaon; but he did not agree to cancel the show in his constituency. (If such demand was made with reference to incidents related to Muslims or Christians, would Mr. Kamat, who ignored the opposition to a play in which Hindu Deities have been denigrated, overlook it? – Editor SP) Today, however, on the advice of MLA Shyam Satardekar, he agreed to cancel the show at Kudchade. (Mr. Kamat finally showed some sense although delayed ! – Editor SP)

Hindus should offer gratitude at the feet of Srikrushna for this success !
