Chamrajnagar (Karnataka): Anti-Hindu Karnataka Government has been demolishing many temples branding them as unauthorized and claiming that it is following the Supreme Court’s order. A meeting of temple trustees, chiefs of temples and devout Hindus was held under the auspices of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) at 7.30 p.m. on 5th February 2011 in the ‘Gramdevata’ Sree Maramma Temple. The meeting was started with a prayer to the ‘Gramdevata’ and was attended by 30 persons.

Mr. Shivaram, the Coordinator of HJS for Chamrajnagar explained to the participants,  in detail, about the Supreme Court’s interim order, the affidavit filed by the Karnataka Government, misconstruing of the order by the Government leading to demolition of about 250 temples in an improper and illegal manner and the agitation staged by HJS till now. The participants asked about the manner in which Hindus should give a legal fight and oppose the Government’s move for protection of the temples. It was unanimously decided, at the end of the meeting, to submit a representation to the District Collector in this regard; besides, creating awareness among the devotees.
