Recently hundreds of Hindus gathered and organised a “ROAD BLOCK” on the national highway. Mr. Ramanand Nayak, ex-president of the Jilla panchaayat said, “we strongly oppose the demolition of this temple that is very holy to thousands of Hindus from all parts of the state since many years. In case the government is adamant in going ahead with the demolition despite the protests of devotees, we will intensify our agitation; We are ready to even give up our lives if the situation so demands. The temple is built legally and it is legitimate and authorised in all respects. Morever, it is not a nuisance to traffic movement. This being so, demolishing it is absolutely unjustified and uncalled for. We do not oppose widening of the road. We expect that the supreme court orders with respect to development works like road widening be undertaken by looking for alternate solutions instead of demolishing a holy shrine.”
