Ancient temple of more than 800 years old ! Anti-Hindu activities of the BJP government of Karnataka !

Bangaluru (Karnataka): The BJP government of Karnataka, on the pretext of road widening, is trying to shift the 800 year old ancient ‘Pariyodibedu Kanapadittaya Bhumavati an parivar daivanche devasthan (Bhamhasannidhi)’ a religious centre located at Kallige in Bantwal Taluka of Dakshik Kannada district. Local Hindus have united and are opposing this move.

The government is trying to shift the temple to facilitate the widening of national highway 48. To oppose this local Hindus have established a local body named ‘Bhamhasannidhi Ladha Samiti’. On 8th November 2009, 600 devotees along with the Samiti had pledged to protect the Bhamhasannidhi. On 10th November 2009, Hindus organized a road block in heavy rain as a protest. A memorandum was handed over to the district collector at this time and as a result the work on the road was stopped. However after receiving news that the government is planning on restarting the work, Hindus united and asked for an explanation from the officials. There is a lot of government land opposite Bhamhasannidhi which could be used as an alternative path for the road – this alternative was suggested by the Hindus.

On 21st May 2010 Chief Minister Yediyurappa ordered the shifting of Bhamhasannidhi. On 22nd May Hindus published a public memorandum in the daily ‘Hosa Diganta’ which indicated the wish to keep Bhamhasannidhi as it is. After receiving a notice from the government based on the High Court decision, the villagers submitted a memorandum to the district collector which contained signatures of all villagers, records from ancient times, information from elders, and other supporting documents.

Following incidents related to Bhamhasannidhi temple are a slap on the face of intellectuals !

1. In 1974 during floods the Bhamhasannidhi temple was completely drowned. Only its roof was floating above the water level. Then a cobra protected it by encircling it.
2. The road construction workers who had brought a machine to demolish the Bhamhasannidhi temple was automatically burnt and reduced to ashes.
3. An engineer, while taking measurements of the road, saw a five-hooded cobra through his binoculars.
4. The bulldozer used to fell the trees around Bhamhasannidhi temple stopped working.
5. Many officials were involved in this deplorable act, were unsuccessful in their endeavour and have come back here for cleansing of their sins.
6. These days villagers report of seeing a strange looking bull and within moments it disappears from their sight. Such incidents are common place.
7. When the gods were asked in the presence of Bhamhasannidhi Chief and the district collector, the answer received was ‘This Bhamhasannidhi should not be shifted for any reason whatsoever from this place. If shifted then unaccountable loss of life will occur.’
