Pen (Maharashtra):
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had made an appeal to the sculptors to make ‘sattvik’ idols of Sri Ganesha as per the specifications given by Sanatan. The sculptors gave a very encouraging response to this appeal and some sculptors assured to make 6500 such ‘sattvik’ idols.

A gathering was organized on behalf of HJS for the sculptors from Pen in Raigad District, famous for manufacture of Sri Ganesha idols, to guide them on making of ‘sattvik’ idols. Dr. Pravin Mehta of HJS explained the specialities of the ‘sattvik’ idol prepared at Sanatan Sanstha and its benefits to the sculptor. He informed that sculptor of such ‘sattvik’ idols gets spiritual benefit of 55% and such idols also help Ganesha-devotees when distributed in society. He appealed to them to take initiative in making such idols.

Mr. Ranjan Desai introduced the participants with HJS activities. The program ended with discussions and clarification of doubts. Many sculptors took part in the discussions and got their doubts cleared. They also requested to hold such program for other sculptors from Pen.

The program was attended by Mr. Shrikant Deodhar, the President of organization of sculptors, Shri. Baliram Pawar, its Vice President and 25 sculptors including other office bearers viz. Mr. Phatak, Mr. Savale, Mr. Chachad, Mr. Gurav and Mr. Dhavale.

1. A VCD prepared by Sanatan on ‘Sri Ganesha – darshan’ and ‘Celebration of Ganesha festival – reality and ideal method’. The sculptors said that they came to know about the malpractices taking place during this festival by watching the VCD.
2. Exhibition of books published by Sanatan also received very good response.
3. Mr. Shrikant Deodhar suggested that such program should be conducted at all India level so that sculptors from all over the world will learn how to make idols as per the science. There should be one story about Sri Ganesha’s creation which can be told to everyone in and outside India.
