HJS’ Diwali drive: Police issue notice to fire crackers’ sellers to prevent Deities’ denigration

HJS drive to prevent denigration of Deities and great national heroes taking place through bursting of crackers

Police hold a meeting of sellers of crackers to issue notice at Vaduj (Satara)

Satara (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had submitted a representation to the Tehsildar Khatav at Vaduj for prevention of denigration of Hindu Deities and great national heroes; but the sellers had not removed crackers with pictures of Deities from sale. The workers of Shiv Sena and HJS followed up the matter with Tehsildar Khatav but they were informed that no action was taken on the representation submitted by them. Thereafter, once again they met the Tehsildar in this connection when he called the police staff and verbally ordered them about issuing a notice to stop sale of crackers with pictures of Deities and great national heroes. Accordingly, the police issued a notice to all vendors of crackers.

A meeting was also held by the police of all sellers of crackers on the following day. In this meeting all cracker-sellers showed their readiness to give assurance in writing about not to sell such crackers in the next year; but raised a query that what should be done about the crackers received this year. A police sub-inspector suggested that it could be sold in such areas where there is no objection to these crackers. (This is like suggesting that ‘One can carry out theft in the area where no complaint would be registered’. One should realize here that the drive has been undertaken by HJS to prevent denigration of Deities or national leaders ! – Editor SP) The police assured HJS and Shiv Sena workers that next year, there would be no crackers on sale with pictures of Deities.

Amalner (Maharashtra): Recently, HJS explained people about denigration of Deities taking place due to bursting crackers with the pictures of Deities. This drive received very good response from Hindus. Some of them gave a feedback that they were not aware that denigration could occur in such manner. (This shows the need for imparting ‘Dharmashikshan to Hindus ! – Editor SP)

55 Hindus went door to door in Rameshwar Colony, Vad-chowk and Sriram Colony area extending best wishes on the occasion of Diwali festival distributing pamphlets about denigration of Deities through crackers. Few sellers of crackers and buyers also joined the drive. Many felt that crackers should not be burst considering the present condition of the Nation.
