Preparations are on for Dharmasabha at Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari temple

October 29, 2010

Kateel (Karnataka) : Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari temple is a famous place of pilgrimage in Dakshina Kannada District. The main Deity, Goddess Durgaparameshwari resides in a spot that has a stream flowing on all 4 sides. The sacred spot has a history dating back to thousands of years. The word Kateel has its origins from the words Katee (hips/midsection of the body) and iLa (earth). It is in this very spot that Sri Durgaparameshwari, to bring an end to the demon Arunasur, incarnated on earth in the form of a bee, and then resided in the belly of the divine cow Nandini to free her from a curse. In this punyakshetra, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will be organising a Dharmajagruti Sabha on 31-10-2010 at 4:30 pm, to awaken Dharma in Hindus and also to profess the importance of practicing Dharma. In preparation, in around 5 villages near Kateel, 15 prasar phalaks, 6000 handbills, 175 posters have been utilised to publicize the event. Also representatives of many pro-Hindu organisations, Political leaders and Dharmabhimanis have directly or indirectly lent their support. The Gram-panchayat members here are assisting the Samiti in all possible ways. They had arranged for a vehicle and a driver for the public prachar on streets. Due to this, till date 85 Dharmabhimanis have been contacted, public-prasar in 5 villages within a day and small meetings in 6 places have been possible.
