Shiv Sena will erect ‘welcome arches’ in Miraj during Ganeshotsava !- Mr. Diwakar Raote, MLA

Sangli (Maharashtra): Riots had taken place in Miraj not because of the picture of Afzal Khan but due to damage caused to Sree Ganesha idol; therefore, this year too, Shiv Sena will be erecting the welcome arch, said Mr. Diwakar Raote, Shiv Sena MLA. He had come here yesterday to attend a meeting of Shiv Sainiks.

He said, “Muslims from Miraj had never opposed the picture of Afzal Khan. In a meeting held at the residence of the Chief Minister, the Muslim brethren had said that they had no objection to that picture. The Home Minister has also said that there was no opposition for the picture of Afzal Khan. The High Court has also granted permission for the same; therefore, Shiv Sena will definitely erect the welcome arch even this year; but the picture on the arch has not yet been finalized.

Home Minister should declare the name of big fish

The MPs elected from here have demanded to declare the name of the big fish involved in the riots. I had also made such demand during the session and the Home Minister had said that search for him was going on but he was not yet found. The Home Minister should therefore, try to find the big fish as early as possible and declare his name.

Need to sit with PM to solve the border issue

Shiv Sena has always supported our brethren from the border areas. Our leader Mr. Uddhav Thackeray also clarified our stance in a gathering held in Kolhapur. The Chief Ministers of both the States need to sit with the Prime Minister and find a solution to the problem, said Mr. Raote.
