Science underlying the Idol of Shri Saraswati Devi

        Being the Deity of Divine Knowledge and Art, Shri Saraswatidevi’s form is unique. This article explains the profound spiritual science behind the components of Her idol. By understanding Shri Saraswatidevi’s functions in the subtle and gross realms, and which qualities to develop to attain Her Grace, the devotee is in a better position to worship her and progress spiritually.

1. Science underlying Shri Saraswatidevi’s Idol

1A. Tarak and marak form

1A 1. Tarak form : ‘Shri Saraswatidevi sits on a lotus. In one of Her right hands, She holds a veena while with the other She blesses the devotees. In one of Her left hands, She holds the Vedas and with the other, She holds a lotus. There is a smile on Her face and upon looking at Her face, one experiences peace.

1A 2. Marak form : The standing, four-armed posture of Shri Saraswatidevi, holding the Brahmastra in Her hand is the marak form of Shri Saraswatidevi. In Kaliyug, Shri Saraswatidevi has taken a marak form to punish those who behave unrighteously.

1B. The meaning and the implied meaning of the gross form

Note – White Swan – Shri Saraswatidevi sometimes sits on a swan or sometimes a swan is behind Her. According to the Buddhist and Jain sects, the peacock is Her vehicle.

‘God provides knowledge to the seeker in the form of words. Similarly, according to the need, He sometimes provides it in the form of pictures. In this manner, while giving information about Shri Saraswatidevi to Ms. Madhura Bhosale, God showed her the bangles and anklets worn by the Devi in the subtle. 1D. Importance of Shri Saraswatidevi’s veena

‘Just as Shri Saraswatidevi is the Goddess of learning and is worshipped for this, She is also the main Deity of various art forms.

1D 1. Beginning of the worship of Nadabrahma

Many jiva in the Satyayug began the worship of Nadabrahma, that is, music, because of the sound of Shri Saraswatidevi’s veena. The musical notes from the musical instrument and the inspired musical notes spontaneously coming out of the mouth used to give the listener the spiritual experience of Nadabrahma. Even Deities from Heaven would come down to earth to hear this Divine music. This music had more than 60% sattvikta. It would be activated through the Madhyamavani and Pashyantivani (Please see Glossary).’ – God.
