- 1. Uniqueness of Hindu culture with regard to dress
- 2. Spiritually inappropriate dresses of men from the Western culture
With a perspective that a person should obtain Sattvikta from each and every object he uses during the day, Hindu dharma has prescribed the use of specific Sattvik objects. One of them is the dress worn by a person.
1. Uniqueness of Hindu culture with regard to dress
There is a proverb to the effect, ‘The dress varies as per the country'. So one finds variety in dresses according to the three components – geographical and social condition, change in the seasons and different regions. The uniqueness of Hindu culture is in the traditional dresses according to the region.
1.1 Changes in dresses as per the Yug
In Satya, Treta and Dwapar Yugs, Sattvik clothes like those made from the bark of trees (Valkals) or from cotton or silk clothes were worn. When the Sattvikta reduced with time, there came a change in the dresses. In Kaliyug, the bizzare thoughts and Acharadharma influenced the dress. In the name of fashion, the spiritually appropriate and traditional clothes were replaced by inappropriate clothes.
2. Spiritually inappropriate dresses of men from the Western culture
According to the Western culture, the men normally wear clothes like shirt-pant, jeans and T-shirt, Bermuda pant or suit and tie etc. Many times the bottoms of the jeans are torn and at times the length of the jeans is more. In the jeans, pockets are stitched everywhere. Various types of designs, faces of film stars and pictures of Deities are painted on jeans. These clothes get a special recognition in the society. However by wearing such clothes, a person loses at a spiritual level.
Harm caused by shirt-pant and jeans and T-shirt: The dresses like shirt-pant and T-shirt and coat and tie are Raja-Tama predominant. For this reason the negative energies get attracted towards the clothes. There is a possibility of distress by negative energies. By painting the pictures of the Deities, the Deities are denigrated. The person who wears such clothes incurs the wrath of the respective Deity.
2.1 Why is it inappropriate to tuck the shirt in the pant?
After the clothes are worn, the Shakti in a person keeps flowing in the fibres of the clothes. If the clothes are uninterrupted, there is no obstacle in this flow; but on tucking the shirt, this Shakti is solidified at that place only. As a result, a person’s narrow-mindedness increases.
Differences between tucking a shirt and not tucking it:
| Tucking a shirt | Not tucking a shirt |
|
| 1. Active principle | Raja-Tama | Raja-Sattva |
| 2. Spread of frequencies of Divine principle |
Limited to body only |
Emitted to others |
| 3. The frequencies active around the body |
Interrupted and distressing |
Uninterrupted and steady |
| 4. Flow of frequencies | In horizontal - slanting direction |
Straight, circular |
| 5. Effect on mind | Continuous thoughts |
Mind becoming thoughtless |
| 6. Effect on body | Increase in restlessness |
Being calm and stable |
It is observed from the table that the person who does not tuck his shirt gets the benefit of Chaitanya. It is to be noted here that the clothes as per the Hindu culture like silk dhoti-uparana, dhoti-kurta etc. are Sattvik and the clothes like shirt-pant are Raja-Tama predominant. In keeping with the present time, in order to get Sattvikta through the medium of clothes, it is recommended that a shirt should not be tucked in the pant.
2.2 Suit and tie
Bharat is a tropical country. In spite of this, the Bharatiyas have adopted the attire of the suit and tie and given them an important place. In the educated and elite strata of society it has been given the status of manners and etiquettes.
Subtle effects of wearing a suit:
Due to the influence of illusory energy (Mayavi Shakti), the thoughts about the design of the suit enter the mind.
Because of the Mayavi Shakti and ego, Tama-predominant vibrations are generated in the suit.
The making of a suit entails lot of cutting and stitching. As a result, it emits Raja component. Similarly the Raja component is emitted from the corners of the coat.
Less cutting is involved in the process of making of a pant. With ironing, it becomes straight and emits Sattvik vibrations.
Tama vibrations are emitted from all the sides of the suit.
Because of conceit regarding the design of the suit, Tama Shakti is emitted.
Shakti is emitted because of self-confidence and ego.
Subtle effect of wearing a tie:
The tie emits spirals of black energy. This creates restlessness in a person’s mind and unnecessary thoughts enter his mind.
The knot of the tie emits Raja-predominant vibrations.
Because of the knot of the tie, clouds of black energy are generated.
The tie emits Raja-predominant vibrations.
This increases the unnecessary thoughts in the person’s mind.
The thought that ‘wearing of a tie is fashionable and it creates good impressions on other persons’ augments conceit and ego in a person.
The head of the person emits Mayavi vibrations of pleasure.
With the Mayavi Shakti spreading in the tie, the thoughts of fashion, desire, conceit and pleasure enter the mind.
Other persons are attracted because of the Tama-predominant Mayavi Shakti emitted by the tie.
Sattvikta is generated in some proportion depending on the yarn of which the tie is made, for example silk etc.
There can be physical distress because of the subtle Shakti. A cover of black energy is created around the person.
Adverse effects of wearing a tie:
Increase in extroversion by wearing a tie: By wearing a tie, the proportion of Tama component increases in a Jiva’s body. So the Jiva is not able to absorb the Sattvik frequencies and thoughts in the environment. His connection with God is lost.
Collection of black energy on the Vishuddha-chakra: The frequencies of black energy in the atmosphere are attracted towards clothes like tie, bow and band made of synthetic yarn like polyester. The body and all the subtle bodies are charged with the black energy. By wearing a tie, a covering of frequencies of black energy is created around the Jiva’s neck.
Ease in installing a yantra of black energy by the Mantriks in the throat: Unnecessary pressure is generated on the Vishuddha-chakra because of wearing of a tie. There is an interruption in the process of his breathing and swallowing. Due to this, it becomes easy for the Mantriks, that is, the superior demonic energies from Hell to install a yantra of black energy in the throat. The yantra of black energy, which absorbs and emits black energy, is a subtle distressing figure created by the Mantriks from Hell. They place this yantra sometimes in the body of the Jiva and sometimes in the environment around him.
Ease in bringing the Jiva under control by the negative energies through the medium of the knot of the tie: The tie is long because of which the frequencies of black energies collected in the knot reach the Jiva’s chest and up to the stomach through the tie and create a cover of black energy on them. With this the negative energies enhance the attacks on the Jiva’s throat, chest and stomach through the medium of the tie and it becomes easy for them to inactivate these important parts of the body.
The Western culture selects various pleasurable items merely in the name of fashion without any study. Contrary to this, the Hindu culture selects each item from the viewpoint of obtaining Sattvikta from it. One should wear the picture of a Deity or its locket hung in a gold chain or a red thread instead of wearing a tie around the neck. These items attract the frequencies of the Deities present in the atmosphere and the person wearing it benefits from a spiritual perspective.
