PRESS NOTE
Andrew Symonds portrayed as Lord Hanuman
HJS submits more than 8,000 protest letters to the
Australian Embassy
Mumbai - The Australian daily
'Courier Mail' has portrayed cricketer Andrew Symonds as
Lord Hanuman, thereby denigrating the beloved deity of
crores of Hindus. This denigrating picture available on the
website edition of Daily 'Courier Mail' is titled as 'Symonds
is just divine; That's no monkey'. The Hindu Janajagruti
Samiti (HJS) has launched an on-line protest campaign on
its site www.hindujagruti.org against the said daily with
regard to this denigration. In response to this campaign,
more than 8,000 people have registered their protest by
sending protest mails to the concerned daily in a span of
just 1.5 hours.
HJS' well-known website has made an application and
an e-protest letter for the convenience of those who want to
participate in this protest campaign. As soon as the
protestor feeds in his name and email address, an e-protest
letter is delivered to the Editor of the 'Courier Mail' and the
Australian and Indian embassies through the HJS' website.
In this regard, the HJS has demanded that the said daily
immediately withdraw the denigrating picture from its
website and other periodicals and tender an unconditional
public apology to the Hindu community. The HJS has
appealed to all Hindus to register their protest in this regard
and fulfill their duty to Hindu Dharma.
Thanks,
Spokesperson
