Protests and Success

A huge protest march was taken out by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Sanatan Sanstha jointly at Karkal, Dist. Udipi in the State of Karnataka against the conversions of Hindus at Tirupati, Andhra Pardesh. Five thousand staunch Hindus participated in the march. HJS and other Hindu Organizations have formed 'Tirupati Andolan Committee (TAC)' to fight against the conversions taking place in and around Tirupati, a place of pilgrimage in the State of A.P.

After the march, Shri Shri Shri Ish Vitthalds Swamiji of Kemru Mutt inaugurated the meeting by lighting a lamp. In His address, He said that conversion of Hindus would not be tolerated in and around Tirupati. He further stated that conversions create hostility among people and increase violence. It is necessary for Hindus to unite and fight against terrorism and conversions. Lakshmivarteertha Swamiji of Shirur Peeth, Shri Shri Shri Rajsekharanand Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Peeth and famous writer Shri Chakrawarty Sulibele were present. Shri Bola Kamath presided over the meeting.

While warning the Congress led Government ruling the State of Andhra Pradesh, H. H. Pejavar Swamiji said that Hindus must come together to fight conversions of Hindus. He said that if within two months, conversion activities are not stopped, in and around Tirupati, a campaign will be started. Shri Chakrawarty Sulibele said that two months is a long time and the State Govt. should take necessary steps to stop conversions.

Shri Girish Mattenwar, the Director of anti-corruption Vedika said that Christian Missionaries are luring Hindus to convert into Christianity by offering them bait in the form of food and shelter. He also warned the Govt. that if necessary steps are not taken to stop conversions, the campaign of TAC will become more rigorous. Shri. Shivanand Prabhu, the Spokesperson of HJS from Southern India was also present in the meeting.

  • Leaders of BJP, Congress and Samajvadi parties also joined the march.
  • When the march was going on, shopkeepers closed down their shops voluntarily to participate in the march.
  • Slogans were raised against the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Samuel Rjsekhar Reddy

Victory of Hindus

Andhra Pradesh Government had demolished the 650 year old 1000 Pillar Mandapam at Tirumala to create a modern complex in that area. This led to severe protests from Religious Groups in Andhra Pradesh, devotees of Lord Tirupati all over the Globe. Over 2000000 people participated in various petitions and protests to the Andhra Pradesh Government. Finally the Government has ordered reconstruction of the 1000 Pillar mandapam at the same spot as the previous one. In 2004 July, Protests had been held in the United States too against destruction of the sanctity of our Temples in the name of modernisation.
