Sub: Information about painter Mr.M. F. Husain.
Sir,
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is an NGO engaged in Nation building, educating people about Dharma and Dharmacharan (Religion & Righteousness), awaking and uniting Hindus peacefully, through legal means. Kindly visit our website www.hindujagruti.org for further details.
It is a fact that Mr. Maqbool Fida Husain has depicted a number of Hindu Gods and Deities in the nude in his paintings. In contrast, his paintings related to Muslims and other religions do not depict any nudity either of the people of those religions or their God. In his paintings, M F Hussain shows our Hindu Gods and Goddesses in vulgar compromising positions, such as has never been encountered in Hindu mythology. For example, in one of his paintings he shows mother and Goddess Sita totally naked masturbating on the long tail of Lord Hanuman. However Hindu mythology contemplates a very pious relationship between a mother and son which was the kind of relationship that Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman had; in another painting she is sitting naked on the thigh of the demon Ravana who is also naked. Unimaginably perverted images have been conjured up by him – of a bull copulating with mother Goddess Parvati and Lord Shanker watching the act on the Shivratri festival day and of Goddess Durga in sexual union with her lion ! So too, appalling denigration of Lord Krishna with his hands and feet chopped off !
(A copy of some paintings are enclosed for ready reference.)
A comparison of his paintings on Hindu mythology and religion and other religions, leads to the inevitable conclusion that these nude Hindu paintings appear to have been done with the sole objective of hurting Hindu religious sentiments and insulting the Hindu religion and as a result provoking communal tensions in this country. What is worse is that he has the audacity to make a business of selling these pornographic paintings of Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
Maqbool Fida Husain is booked under different Sections of the Indian Penal Code at different police stations all over India and in some cases has obtained bail and in some cases he has been declared as absconding. (Enclosed are news reports. Do refer to our website www.hindujaruti.org for protest campaigns.)
The above cases are mostly related to hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus as well as endangering religious harmony. As per the newspaper reports, the above said accused individual who is absconding, is presently located in the United Kingdom and he frequently flies to the UAE. (Enclosed are copies of press reports.)
It is pertinent to note that our consulates in the UK and UAE are very much aware of his location in these countries but, till date our counterpart in that country has neglected and failed to initiate the necessary legal proceedings against the perverted painter because of which he is freely operating from these foreign lands and as a result they are promoting his activities of sowing communal tensions amongst Hindus and other religions and thus provoking, instigating and insulting Hindus.
It was the duty of your agencies to initiate action against this accused and absconding individual, in which they have failed miserably. Now we hereby inform you about his location and activities and thus request your good office to initiate necessary legal action against M. F. Husain with immediate effect by which justice can be secured in the pending cases. In the event of failure on your part to act, we shall be constrained to approach the appropriate forum for justice. Awaiting your prompt action and reply.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
S.G.Vatkar

Mumbai: A complaint has been lodged by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) with Marine Lines police station against a play based on the life of anti-Hindu and anti-National painter M F Husain. A play titled ‘Pencil se brush tak’ produced by an organization called ‘Ekjut’ is based on the life-story of Husain. The play was seen by a member of HJS when he observed that there was denigration of Hindu Deities in the said play.
In the beginning of the play, the background screen of the stage has a picture of Sree Krushna in the nude, playing the flute, riding a cow and being surrounded by nude ‘gopis’
In an incident based on ‘Ram-Leela’, the role of Sita was played by Sumit Irani. He was shown addressing Sree Rama as Swami in a very sardonic manner.
Lord Hanuman is also shown, with his head cut, tail burning and almost in the nude and in a disgraceful manner.
The actor Anup Soni, enacting the character of Husain, is shown clandestinely watching a few women bathing in a river. During this scene, the above mentioned background screen was prominently displayed.
The purpose of staging this play seems to be of rubbing salt into the wounds of Hindus, glorifying Husain and hurting the religious sentiments of thousands of Hindus.
At the end of the play, Nadira Babbar, the director of the play, declared that the shows of this play will go on despite opposition from some people.
March 21: Volunteers of HJS in association with Indian-American Intellectuals Forum (IAIF) held a protest demonstration outside Christie’s art gallery in New York on Phalgun Shuddha Chaturdashi (March 20, 2008) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the auction of M.F. Hussain’s paintings in Christie’s art gallery. Around 35 alert Hindus joined the protest, despite it being on a workday and in the high traffic Manhattan area and cold weather (40 degrees Fahrenheit). Most of the protestors came from different states near and far from New York. (Detail News)
Christie's sold 12 of Husain's paintings for $ 1.4 million.

Click here for details and protest photos
The protest began with recitation of 'Vakratunda Mahakaaya' shlok and prayers for removal of obstacles from the protest. It included the 'Krushnaaya Vasudevaaya' shlok towards the middle, and concluded with the 'Sarvetra sukhinah santu' shlok. Protestors were wearing placards explaining the denigration of Hindu deities in M.F. Hussain 's paintings and Christie's promoting M.F. Hussain .
The silent protest was soon filled with vigorous shouting of slogans such as, ' M.F. Hussain - shame shame!', 'Down with Christie’s', 'Boycott - Christie's', 'Fugitive - M.F. Hussain ', 'Stop discrimination against Hinduism', 'Christie's - shame shame!' that continued till the conclusion of the protest. Within a few minutes of the protest commencement, press reporters from India Abroad, Rediff, BBC, NDTV, TV Asia, etc., came on the scene to cover the event. They interviewed IAIF President Shri. Narain Kataria, HJS volunteer and the alert Hindus, participating in the protest..

Twenty of MF Husain's works were on display and on sale at the India International Centre in Delhi. This ten day long exhibition was inaugurated by the Governor of Rajasthan, SK Singh. Hussein show in IIC, Delhi was cancelled after protests. (Ref: ibnlive.com )
According to assurance given to HJS, India International Centre (IIC) had declared that they have stopped the exhibition and will not display it again. But as per NDTV report, it is published that the exhibition was started under police protection after cancellation of show. This exposes the flasehood of IIC. Hence, HJS continued it's protest.
PRESS RELEASE
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti strongly condemns Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's visit to anti Hindu painter M.F Husain in UK during his present cricket tour to UK.
It appears that Sachin is not fully conversant about the nature of nude and obscene paintings of Hindu deities by M.F Husain and the nude picture of Bharat mata. These paintings can be seen at -
http://www.hindujagruti.org/activities/campaigns/national/mfHusain-campaign
By this act of his Sachin has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and the National sentiments of Indians.
Husain is facing 1,250 police complaints for hurting the Hindu religious sentiments, but he has fled the country to avoid action. Sachin visited an anti-Hindu and anti-national person like M.F Husain. We would recommend Sachin to have a look at these paintings and clarify his action about visiting Husain and whether he approves of such paintings.
We demand an apology from Sachin for this act of his.

Shashi Tharoor the ex UN Under Secretary-General is going to praise the notorius, criminal and absconding Indian painter M.F Husain painter in a lecture on Saturday, March 10, 2007, 4 pm at the 'Peabody Essex Museum' US titled 'Shashi Tharoor Presents: Mining the Mahabharata: How Husain and Others Have Reinvented the Epic'
The latest of the developments being a Delhi court has transferred from the Connaught Place police station to Crime Branch of Delhi Police the probe in a complaint against noted painter M F Husain for allegedly portraying Hindu gods and godesses in an indecent manner. Refer Latest News
It is very shocking to know that Mr Shashi Tharoor*, who has made India proud through his international contributions, is supporting an anti National and anti Hindu Husain. Would Mr Tharoor also glorify the Danish Cartoonist who drew the Prophet's cartoons?
(* Since 1978, he has worked for the United Nations, serving in many roles with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, at the UN Headquarters in New York, and executive assistant to former Secretary-General Kofi Annan. In June 2002, he was confirmed as the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information of the United Nations. In 2006, Mr. Tharoor was runner-up to Ban Ki-moon for the post of UN Secretary-General.)
In the past Shashi Tharoor had supported the conferring of Bharat Ratna to M. F. Husain and the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had requested him to withdraw his support to Husain but with no reply. Read letter. HJS has sent a second letter to him in context of this lecture. He has again supported MF Husain by writing an article in TOI. Refer here

MF Husain has drawn a painting for the 'Let Us Make Mumbai Unbreakable' campaign by the Mumbai police for police welfare fund. As per report in the 'Times of India', MF Husain has told that the Mumbai Police Commissioner himself had called him up and urged for paintings. These paintings are to be auctioned. Same police is investigating (?) cases against Husain.
1. The maverick artist received a call about a month ago from Mumbai Police Commissioner AN Roy requesting a painting which would depict the unbreakable spirit of the city. - MF Husain, Dubai (Source: Times of India)
2. The pictures will be seen on more than 300 hoardings across the city and the paintings will be auctioned on February 10. - Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Asutosh Dhumbre (Source: Mid-day)
1. Will the Police (Home department) allow Mr. Salman Rushdie (Indian author) to campaign for Mumbai Police?
2. If the Police have to beg to Husain for painting, then will they ever take action against MF Husain? Is this the reason for the delay in action?
3. If the Police can contact M.F Husain then how can they site him absconder for not arresting him?
4. Tomorrow the Police will tie up with criminal Dawood Ibrahim for their welfare.
HJS is fighting against this insult of National and Hindu sentiments with all possible means. We appeal you to participate in this drive by sending fax to Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Minister office as well as by registering protest by telephone. Also help by spreading a word about this issue.
At least 1000 Hindus have already sent their fax and called up State Govt Office to express their resentment.

Adv. Vinayak Shinde of HJS has already sent a legal notice to Maharashtra State Government to order the Police to withdraw Anti-Hindu Husain's paintings from the gallery. Samiti's activists have already met the Home Minister Shri. R.R. Patil. "Mumbai Police must Apologize to Hindus for using the paintings of Anti-Hindu artist M F Husain", is the prime demand of the Samiti.
Dr. Ram Pratap Singh of New Delhi has registered a new fresh case against M F Husain in Delhi High Court for drawing naked paintings of Draupadi, Bharatmata, Seeta etc. The Police have given various excuses for not being able to arrest Husain and examine his paintings in detail. When Dr. Singh's lawyer expressed his anger, the Judge Smt. Kamini Lau has asked the Mumbai Police to submit a report before 7th February.
Taking into account the Hindu Fury which manifested last year, Husain has this time drawn Bharatmata well clad in Sari. The attitude of taking Hindus for granted seems to have been reduced in Husain who has been absconding from India ever since he was booked for his naked paintings of Hindu Gods, Goddesses and Bharatmata.
The Boston Globe says -
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (Hindu Awareness Forum), wrote to the museum before "Epic India" opened in November, urging museum officials to cancel the exhibition .... They have received more than 200 e-mails protesting the exhibit, mostly sent from India and Great Britain. ... "Many people [made complaints], maybe in the hundreds," says Susan Bean , curator of South Asian and Korean Art at the PEM. "It was impossible for him to be there. He could be snapped up by a police officer."
